Avalon University School of Medicine has obtained “full accreditation” status by both CAAM-HP and ACCM, and is the only medical school in the Caribbean to receive the maximum years of accreditation by both CAAM-HP and ACCM. Obtaining accreditation demonstrates Avalon’s commitment to providing the highest levels of education to our students and the same level of quality in our business practices. Achieving accreditation is evidence that we are a part of an elite few and have met the rigorous standards of internationally recognized third parties.
Avalon University School of Medicine utilizes a holistic approach when selecting students for admissions. Our holistic approach is an individualized way for us to consider an applicant’s capabilities, providing a balanced assessment of experiences, attributes, and academic metrics.
Accelerated Program (Five semesters of basic sciences) – Applicants must have a minimum MCAT score of 480 or higher. The MCAT score and bachelor’s degree should have been achieved within the last three years.
Regular Program (Six semesters of basic sciences) – MCAT score is below 480 or not have taken MCAT. A bachelor’s degree, or, a minimum of 90 credit hours completed at the premedical/undergraduate level should be achieved (with the mandatory prerequisites completed).

Applicants must have a minimum MCAT score of 480 or higher. The MCAT score and bachelor’s degree should have been achieved within the last three years.
Since English is the primary language of instruction in most international medical schools, Canadian students may be required to demonstrate proficiency in English. This is typically done through standardized tests such as the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). If you are a citizen of Canada who is fluent in English and have not attempted the TOEFL or IELTS, Avalon University would not require you to complete either exam or submit score reports.

With our rolling admissions process, we offer three start dates for enrollment during the year – January, May and September. For the students that are citizens of the United States and Canada, applications should be submitted no later than 2 months before the desired start date. Students that are looking to transfer from another medical school into our clinical science program, we offer clinical rotations all throughout the year, so applications can be submitted at any time during the year and begin their education with us at any time during the year.
Generally, students holding a valid passport may enter Curaçao without a written permit and remain on the island for a period of up to 90 days. However, several nationalities must present a Visa as part of the entry requirements. On the website, www.curacao.com, you’ll find a complete list of nationalities that don’t need a visa. If your country is not on this list, then you will need a Visa to travel to Curaçao.In order to have adequate time to obtain the Visa, for students whose nationalities are not found in the above listing, students should submit their application no later than 3 months before their desired start date.
